Forum - Tap Water or Bottled Water?

Tap Water or Bottled Water; which is really better? I sometimes buy bottled water; but I look at the date on the bottle to make sure that it's not too old to use. Since, sometimes the older bottles of water could have bacteria in them. I also sometimes drink tap water. I usually let my faucet run for about a minute and then get water from the tap.

I think bottled is better though tap water is not so bad too. But I never used to see a bottle of overdue fresh water. As for me it sounds pretty exotic!

Bottled water is a big business. The question of which is better, tap or bottled, depends on where you live and the source of each. In some areas, bottled water is drawn right from the tap -- very profitable for the sellers, eh? In fact, in some areas, tap water is cleaner than bottled.

If you're really concerned about the quantity of your tap water, you can have it tested.

It's how long the bottled water has been on the shelves at stores that is what I would be concerned with. I have heard somewhere before that bottled water that has been sitting on the shelves in stores for a long period of time would have a lot more bacteria in the bottled water compared to tap water.

I know what you mean daka1; if they could find a way to bottle air; they probably would. As far as the tap water where I am at; I think it's pretty safe; maybe too safe because every once in a while I can smell a little bit of the chemicals they use to clean the water. If I am a little worried about it; I will just boil the water and put it in the refrigerator for later use.

It is very interesting, what territories do you mean. Or maybe you mean not purity but quality or healthiness?

Having a reverse osmosiss water filer system is the only real way to insure unpoluted drinking water. I have 3 in my house and also have a whole house water softener system.
But bottled water is usually only good for about 1 year if it is real bottled water(not tap bottled water). A good way to find out how good the water will last is to call the company. I usually get Caligstoga which is spring bottled water and the company person I spoke with told me it was best to use it with in a year.

I know some people that really use "bottled" air. They use a cylinder with clean air under pressure in their car. The air is gradually let out by thin hoses.

Thanks Paul for this information. I will look into trying to get my water tested as well. I don't know for sure about stores around SC carrying the Caligstoga brand of botteld water. I will look around at different stores and check on it though. Maybe a few of the natural food stores will have it.

tap water or boyyle water is same water, which need everybodey, because water we can live. i agree with you, about this topic, it must intersert for any body.

I was wrong about the water being Calistoga, that's a bottled carbonated spring water. The water I buy, and keep on hand, is Crystal Gyser. I'm pretty sure it's sold nation wide but most bottled water has the phone number of the company on the bottle and you can always call them for the information on the shelf life of the water.

You are totally mistaken if you think tap water and bottled water are the same. On Tuesday night news there was a report on a new house because the water was so comtaminated it would catch fire if a lighter was held close to it.
In Eastern Europe many countries water is so polluted that the people will not drink tap water at all. I know that when I was in the Ukraine there were rivers and I believe the Azor Sea which people were banned from entering because of the levels of pollution. I know in Vietnam much of the water I drank came from rivers and streams, which ran brown with the soil in them, and I always added water purification tablets to it.

Thanks for the update Paul. I have seen lots of bottled water like Avian and other brands in the store as well as the one you just mentioned. I have a family member that just started buying the new vitamin water. I sure hope it is safe. I would love to be able to try it too.

Hell, maybe it was mixed with oil or gas???
