I am not a "professional" photographer but I have had many of the pictures I have taken printed in news papers and magazines.
If some one comes up with a story like this start asking him about cameras. I have one Pentax K1000, it is a metal bodied camera and uses 35mm film. I have 4 lenses for that one camera. I also have a Cannon 9.5 megapixel digital camera, for this camera I have 3 lenses and I also have my "cheap" camera a Nikon 5 megapix digital camera. It has one fixed lens. A real photog will tell you all the information he knows about his camera's and lenses. Ask what kind of lighting. Most photogs use difused lights when taking photographs. Direct lighting causes red eyes and over exposes the subject. What type of flash does he use? Is it built in, accessory mounted or hand held off mount.
What speed and apature does he use when taking pictures. If he says the same one for all pics he's a fake. What type of light meter does he use, how many readings does he take. He should take one of the subject and as many as 3 for the background.
I have taken picture of battle grounds during combat, made surfing films, pictuers of people and buildings (some govt officals have bought) that were being restored. Pictures skiing and SCUBA diving both during the day and night. People say I take fantastic pictures and some times I do but they don't see all the ones I toss!
Good luck.
